Stage Three Baby Foods:
9 to 12 Months
To your Stage One and Two foods now you can add in:
Chicken, Beef, and Turkey (I didn't but you can). Pineapple, Kiwi, White potatoes, Lentils, Beans, Asparagus, Broccoli, Eggplant, Cauliflower, Cheese, Milk, Yogurt, Pastas, and some spices can also be added at this stage.
Now for why I didn't add meats... My pediatrician told me that my baby was getting enough protein from the veggies and formula he was taking in each day that he didn't need the meat until he could actually chew it with his teeth. (He didn't have teeth yet) So I waited until he was about 11 months and had enough teeth to mash the meats himself. If you want to do meats, I suggest you bake them in broth or roast them until they are fall apart tender. Roast beef is great, baked chicken, turkey... etc. Then puree them with water or homemade vegetable broth (there's a recipe on my site). Don't use store bought broths because they have lots of extra stuff in them babys don't need.
If you are concerned with protein, 5 spears of asparagus contains 2 grams of protein per serving! Pretty awesome super veggie I think!
Lentils are a great source of vitamins and protien. My little one LOVED them!
