Stage One Baby food List:
Ages 4-6 months
Stage One Foods: Apples, bananas, pears, prunes, plums, peaches, avocados, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, squash, and green beans
Yes Avocados... they are the baby super food. High in good fats, and awesome in nutrients! My baby loved them!!!!
Carrots, use frozen or canned. For one they taste better than raw to a baby, and secondly there are some studies that found traces of nitrates in the cooking water of fresh carrots which isn't good for the baby. So play it safe and just use frozen!
When cooking squash at this stage I stuck with butternut and acorn squash, save yellow squash for the next stage!
Possible Seasonings: at this stage stick to trace amounts of sugar and salt. Now I know people might frown upon me saying to give a baby sugar and salt, but we are talking a pinch, just enough to enhance the natural flavors of food. Plus, it makes the babies more likely to eat your foods later!
